Did you know Singapore has become 10 times far greener than what they were 10 years back!!!.... Today when we are heading, very quickly, towards global warming and deforestation, there is one small COUNTRY not very far off from our own that are going greener by the day.
Isn't that surprising!!! ….. The answer is NO.
When I was planning my trip to Singapore, some people warned me of the high fines that I will (and not 'might') have to pay if I don't follow the rules.
Initially when I landed in that country I thought that probably that's the reason why Singapore is developing with leaps and bounds.
I am sure the government has done their bit of ensuring that every individual follows rules in this country. But it is for each of you to see how every citizen is in love with his nation.
Every one is conscious of the environment around them. Not a foot of free land has been left barren. Areas where they couldn't plant trees, they have planted shrubs and herbs. It is so amazing to see that every small nook and corner, space around the signal, road turns, crossings, road dividers and every possible place has been planted with green and colorful plants.
This is not only beautifying the country but is also contributing in its own small way to the environment.
Singapore has one of the best Rain forests, which the country is so proud off. They are not cutting them off for personal needs. And you don't need to meet ministers to know that. Every man, woman and child of that country would make you feel the pride that they carry.
No one throws any garbage on the roads. A rule?? YES… but now a Habit!!!
Back to our own country - Have you wondered why suddenly this year we had so little rain in the monsoon season and why the summer started in January and why in mid November we need an AC to cool ourselves off… where is winter?
Most of the cities are facing water crunch. Food prices are on the rise. And still we want to turn a cold shoulder towards these pinching issues… We are so much in love with our 'present' that we have turned blind towards our 'Future'.
It not just our government's job to do something and reduce pollution and improve the environment. It is not just their responsibility to fight global warming. But each and every individual should contribute in every possible way to fight the big issues of the future that we have so complacently planted for our ourselves.
The only thing that you need to kick start is LOVE. Love for your country, love for the nature and love for your own future.

ReplyDeleteHuman being is born in the nature but grows up and tends to win the nature. The very desire to earn the most out of nature has led us to this devastating habit of destroying it. We have actually forgotten that we are due to the nature and not the other way. It is our ever increasing demands for comforts and style in life that is leading us towards squeezing nature. LIVE A SIMPLE LIFE AND YOU WILL BE GIFTED WITH FRUITS THAT ARE NATURALLY SWEET. WE NEED TO REMEMBER THAT THE COMFORTS, WE ARE TODAY RUNING AFTER, AT THE COST OF NATURE WILL NOT LAST LONG IF NATURE SHALL STOP YIELDING.

ReplyDeleteDo not read too much in these reports. Singapore is too small a country to have any worthwhile flora and fauna, and what are they doing. Clearing and wiping of all natural vegetation in an area to erect skyscrapers and then developing manicured gardens and forests in a miniscule area. And what about their lifestyle, they massacre thousands of animals every day to feed themselves. All this report is just a clever publicity stunt to attract tourists and business.
